Beirut, Lebanon

The apartment has been rebuilt from scratch twice in the same year.
The works had been completed and handed over just a few weeks before the August 4th 2020 Beirut port explosion that decimated the city. We’ve just finished rebuilding it.
This two-story apartment is located in the district of Achrafieh, in the heart of Beirut and benefits from a 130 m2 terrace that wraps around the reception area. The ample outdoor space and floor to ceiling windows allowed us to create a free-flowing space, bringing the outdoor in. The flooring of the reception area, made of travertine with basalt inlays, is an interpretation of loose laid, randomly cut, stone floors typical of Lebanese gardens. The railing and travertine cladded staircase are also representative of outdoor design.
The intervention of landscape designer Olga Moutran was essential to cocoon the apartment from the surrounding neighborhood. Gabriel & Guillaume collaborated to set the tone by selecting pieces to go with existing furniture by Royère.
